WHAT IS FSS?

Family Self-Sufficiency (FSS) is a voluntary employment and savings incentive program designed to assist families in becoming economically independent and self-sufficient.
What’s holding you back? Is it childcare? Transportation? Education? Your FSS Case Manager can work with you to identify and solve the issues that put up barriers that keep you from reaching your dreams.

Some of the benefits include: Obtaining the education or training you need to make a living wage, case management and support services, receipt of an escrow check upon successful completion of your contract, improvement of the life circumstances of your family, and pride in achieving your goals!

Participating FSS families are required to sign a Contract of Participation with the Rochester Housing Authority. An FSS family then has five years to complete specific goals and objectives identified in their service plan.

For more information on this program please contact your Public Housing or Section 8 Housing Specialist for a referral to the Resident Services Department for an orientation.
